For Hops and Malt

Consider an innovative, sustainable valve that operates hydraulically – with water. A Danish company, Hydract, is championing the technology for the beverage industry. In this field, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) champions made-to-order sealing solutions that are customer- and application-specific.

Three of them recently found a home in a patented, hydraulically activated Hydract process valve. They are a hygienic pressure seal, a hygienic radial seal and a special static seal in which two O-rings are combined into a single sealing element. This food-grade trio from FST is extremely pressure- and temperature-resistant to ensure the valve’s long-term functionality. Made of premium materials, the seals are already at work in a famous brewery.

Among other things, the joint efforts with Hydract included FEM calculations and test stand trials under real-life operating conditions at FST’s facilities in Weinheim. Freudenberg Xpress® produced the test pieces, which means there were no tooling costs during prototyping. The Hydract valve is not only well-suited for breweries – it can be used in numerous food and beverage applications.
