Fit for Industry 4.0

  • 2. June 2022
  • 1 minute read

The digital transformation of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) is an important focus of the current strategy period. The goals of the digitalization initiative are more efficient processes, revenue growth and benefits for customers. Data-based decision-making is expected to bring greater productivity and production with the help of automation, robotics and the networking of machinery. FST is also investing in the targeted continuing education of employees.

With the support of the Freudenberg Education Center, the FST Academy has developed a two-part training program for this purpose. A pilot group has now tested the course. Over the first three days, the focus was on the SPS, or memory-programmable control system – and not just theory but its practical aspects as well. The SPS is a component that is programmed and used to regulate or control an installation or machine. All the participants
had a laptop with its own conveyor belt at their disposal so they could practice programming.

After programming the SPS, individual machines were networked with one another using an interface. The group also recorded data on an RFID chip and then read it out. At the end of the training, the participants were able to control the conveyor belt using a display on the machine, their laptop or another computer thanks to the network.

Other seminars will follow in August and October | Contact: peter.blatt@fst.com
