With about 280 test rigs and measurement devices, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) has the world’s largest test facility for dynamic seals. Each year, 4,000 different parts are thoroughly scrutinized. The seals undergo tests under nearly real-life conditions to verify that they operate flawlessly.
The products specifically have to withstand friction, pressure, cold temperatures, spraying water, vibrations and high rotational speeds. The test stands operate
for 1.2 million hours year after year. Nine employees
run the equipment.
The Weinheim test facility doesn’t just test the company’s own products and developments. Customers can also place orders. For example, they can look at the interplay
of Simmerrings, lubricants and shafts.
