Congratulations: The Schwalmstadt location newspaper “Calle” is celebrating an anniversary with its fiftieth issue.
The first edition of “Calle” was published at the Schwalmstadt site in August 2012. “We wanted to create a newspaper that not only informs, but also connects,” recalls Reinfried Wobbe. At the time, the current Director Digital Business Development managed the Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) plant in North Hesse. In the fiftieth anniversary edition of the site newspaper, Wobbe writes in the foreword. “The name ‘Calle’, derived from our company founder Carl Freudenberg and lovingly anchored in the dialect, was a direct hit. It stands for identity, down-to-earthness and a bit of local color – exactly what the team at the location is all about.”
To be precise, only the second edition bore this title. Heiko Schuchhardt had the idea for the name. “Name wanted!” was the title of the first issue and Schuchhardt joined in: “I immediately thought of the name ‘Calle’ because my father once told me that when he was asked where he worked back in the 80s, he always said ‘Calle’ and everyone knew. Everyone in the Schwalm knew the term ‘Calle’ and was proud to work there. That was the colloquial name for the Freudenberg company.”

In the foreword to the fiftieth issue, Reinfried Wobbe addresses an important aspect of the “Calle” to the employees: “In a world full of emails, apps and chat tools, it remains a small analog highlight – a newspaper that shows that you are more than just colleagues: you are a community with stories, successes and sometimes a good dash of humor.”
Matthias Burkert, Vice President, Lead Center Fluid Power Industry, is also delighted with the magazine in Schwalmstadt: “It’s great to see that the “Calle” has become an indispensable part of communication at the site over time. With its information on new employees, product innovations and events around the site, it gives you a very good overview and allows you to get to know the people behind it better. This creates identity and strengthens team spirit. In addition, the “Calle” offers retired employees the opportunity to stay up to date and perhaps pop in from time to time to keep in touch with the site. I look forward to many more years with “Calle” in Schwalmstadt.”
