Diligent workers are in demand at a project that Freudenberg is supporting with its e2 program. It is a community campaign undertaken by the Freudenberg Sealing Technologies plant in Oberwihl, Germany, and other sponsors. They are all donating funds and muscle power. The goal is to upgrade an 8-kilometer-long nature path that was built two decades ago and opens up an impressive landscape containing several marshes. The watery area provides important habitat for endangered plants and species.
The walkways of the Seven Marsh Trail are aging, as are the ericaceous plants, shelters, signage and information boards there. Now the experience needs to be improved and many of the fixtures replaced. Information on flora and fauna has to be provided to hikers. On weekends,
many highly-motivated people gather there to haul materials, dig holes, and assemble prefabricated elements. About 20 FST employees are involved in the project. Some of them were already at work for hours on a recent Saturday morning. They started out repairing the walkway and removing the old foundation of a shelter. Other work will follow during better weather in early summer.
