Alhousseine Sow, 20, completed his training as a warehouse employee at Freudenberg Industrial Services in Hamburg. Thanks to his strong performance, he was able to make it through the program a year and a half early. Today he is continuing his training to become a specialist in warehouse logistics. “I should be finished in May,” he said.
That may sound unremarkable, but Sow has a past that was full of danger, adventure and emotionally moving moments. His odyssey began in Conakry, Guinea, in West Africa. A book could be written about it. Today, some years later, he can talk about it.
His work environment helps him deal with these experiences. “This is like a family,” he said. “Everyone knows everyone else.” His supervisor, Hendrik Nowaczyk, Head of Internal Logistics & Warehouse, is happy with the relationship as well. “Mr. Sow quickly became part of the team. He is open-minded and willing to learn new things.”
Last fall, this thirst for knowledge led him to an internship abroad, supported by the European Union’s Erasmus program, at the company’s Landskrona facility in Sweden. “I wanted to do something useful during my internship. The warehouse in Landskrona is relatively new, and they need people with expertise.”
At Landskrona, he got to know people who are open, approachable and warmhearted. “When I arrived, everybody immediately wanted to talk with me,” he said. The experience reinforced his belief that he had chosen the right path. Sow says he would like to remain at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies long-term.
