On July 7, despite mixed weather, 603 teams from 279 companies competed in a 15K relay race (five legs, 3 kilometers long in each case) known as the “Company Relay 2022” in Magdeburg, Germany. One team was from the Lead Center High Performance Plastics in Biere, a unit of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST). Led by Team Captain Franziska Ackemann, the five-person team competed in the “men’s” category and came in 86th out of 186 teams.
A part of the Components Division, the Lead Center includes facilities in Findlay (USA) and Taicang (China), in addition to the Biere site. The 35 employees at the German site handle the compounding of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) mixtures. PTFE is an important high-performance material for shaft seal rings, special seals and fluid power applications, and is used in many industries.
