Christian Sickler, who works in the Components Business Unit in Langres, is a long-distance runner. Over the years, he has won a range of honors, and he just added two gold medals at the French championships, one in the 10-kilometer event and another in the half-marathon (21.1 kilometers or 13 miles), in his age class.

Sickler is now 61 and trains for 15 hours per week. He loves competition and does all he can to bring out his best on the track – but he is not a picture of grim determination. He is respectful in dealing with others, considerate and modest. His son Théo describes him as an oasis of peace. Like the elder Sickler, he works at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) in Langres. His training partner and one of his fans, Théo pitched this article as a surprise for his dad. (Christian Sickler had not been informed about it). The Sicklers often team up to compete at “Bike and Run” races, alternately switching between the two modes of competition.
Christian Sickler is not just a big name on the running scene and has not only been successful in 10 and 21.1 kilometer races. He has also been in the forefront of longer-distance events, even internationally. The legendary New York Marathon is one example.
A bit of information for running aficionados: To win his two championship titles in 2021 in the M5 age group, Sickler needed just 35.44 minutes for the 10-kilometer and 77:44 minutes for the 21.1 kilometer event.
